Family & Friends Make Fishing Better!

The forecast said cool skies and chili evening on a Friday night in north Texas and that is exactly what we got. I was invited to do some bass fishing up in a private ranch with my uncles long time family friend. I hopped on my uncle’s truck who was also heading out there and the road trip began. That day started rainy and fresh as we headed to San Antonio where we were to meet my uncle Gabriel and the birthday boy Marcos Garcia my little cousin turning 10yrs old.

The Scenery

Well what can I say. We are in the lone star state! The ranch land in Texas is beautiful and more so when you head further north than the Rio Grande Valley where I’m from. Bigger trees and greener grass not to mention its not as hot. As we arrived, I could quickly adapt to the scenery and set up as we waited for Ben. My uncle decided to grab some cold ones and get some lines wet and that is exactly what we did. Well over 6,000 acres of ranch land covered the area and the lakes within the ranch were amazing.

One of the many beautiful lakes we fished!

Bait

On the first night I used fake worm lures from Wal-Mart that I had boughten the night before which worked like a charm. On the first cast I landed a small large mouth. After a few more casts I landed a nice big large mouth. He was huge! I thought he was because for me this is the first bass fishing trip so you can imagine the excitement. They both hung around the edges of the lake. With the new RPP Outdoors Bass fishing rod, I was able to quickly maneuver the rod to where I needed to cast right away. The second day on Saturday morning Ben set me up with some spinner baits from Walmart. That did the trick as you can see from the video I posted. He was a beauty!

Before leaving town I picked up our brand new addition to the custom rod line from my buddy Fernando who runs the rod department for RPP. I wanted to put it to work and it worked out perfectly. The timing could not have been better as it arrived in time for my first ever bass fishing trip. The rod is very light and feels amazing. The action was quick for when you need it especially in this kind of fishing. I highly recommend you guys to try it. We can ship anywhere in the US!

Bass Fishing Experience Compared To Other Fish

My personal experience and opinion on catching bass may very well be different than yours so I invite you to tell us what you think. I noticed right away that I was catching near the edges of the lakes as opposed to where I thought I would be catching in the middle of the lake. There wasn’t grass but more like weeds and leaves from the beautiful trees! I never really got stuck as the spinner baits and the worms did a great job of not doing that. Once I caught the bass, I noticed they don’t go all crazy like redfish and trout do when you bring them in. I noticed they pretty much stayed still.

Now when you are talking about the bite that is a different story. They attack the bait pretty nice! The small fish did no different technique than the bigger ones. They went after that bait and attacked with no chance of it getting away. With a large mouth as they have well you pretty well imaging the bait have no chance and well you can get lucky!

In The End

After two nights of bbq, shooting guns, drinking beer and telling stories it was time to wrap it up and go back to the world of covid and whatever else awaits our busy lives. If I ever get the chance to go back I would do it in a heart beat. That place was amazing and just had a good old time with Ben, his son Seth and my family. It was definitely one for the books and I thank you all for reading and following our adventures. I would love to hear about your adventures during this crazy world we live in. Always remember to stay humble, thank and respect those who take care of you or incite you to places. Keep Texas beautiful and stay safe amigos! Salud!

I would like to take the time to thank my uncle Gabriel for the invite and Ben for his hospitality. I will never forget this trip! Guy check out the video on our social media! Salud. Quein Dijo Yo?
