Hello y saludos a toda la raza de Texas! We hope everyone is staying safe and enjoying the hot summer days! We had the chance to go out on the bay this weekend to South Padre Island, TX. Although we did not catch any redfish we were able to land a couple of speckled trout. Nice cold beers in the hot summer day were also enjoyed. The official rule of nobody drinks a beer until you catch a fish was quickly out the window! It took us a while to land a keeper so the beer poppin’ started lol.
This nice trout was caught using Kwiggler lure. Several other trout were caught but were released. We started off by trying several methods of bait. I started using cut mullet but no luck. The guys were using lures and spoons. The water was nice. There was a lot of mullet in the area. Traveling north we had no luck so we headed back south to where we almost launched out of.
Finally after basically a half day of fishing we landed this beauty. It was a great feeling to reel this one in. Louisiana batter for fish fry is calling my name right about now! It is always good to thank the good lord for what we are able to do. Enjoying the outdoors is a great thing. I want to thank Fernando Perez for taking out this past Saturday. There was definitely a lot of boats out there and a gentleman literally drove his boat right in front of us. We encourage everyone to learn the rules and follow them and well at some point common sense should kick in lol.
